Social media giant Facebook paid the $10,000 reward to the 10-year-old Finnish boy for finding a glitch in its picture-sharing app Instagram. He is the youngest recipient of Facebook’s “bug bounty”, which is paid to users who find bugs or weaknesses in its platforms.
Jani, a little proud of himself, bragged that he “could have deleted anyone’s comments from there. Even Justin Bieber’s!”
He said he was thinking about a career in data security. Hopefully he’ll stay on the protective side of hacking, instead of on the destructive side. I’m sure that website security providers like Trust Guard could use a good man in 10 years or so to help them in their efforts to keep websites safe.
